NEW YORK, Oct. 12 (Xinhua) -- U.S. stocks ended mixed on Monday.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 195.6 points, or 0.38 percent, to 51,850.55. The S&P 500 sank 4.3 points, or 0.06 percent, to 7,807.24. The Nasdaq Composite Index shed 120.27 points, or 0.44 percent, to 27,245.9.
Eight of the 11 primary S&P 500 sectors ended in green, with energy and consumer staples leading the gainers by going up 1.48 percent and 1.22 percent, respectively. Meanwhile, technology and consumer discretionary led the laggards by losing 0.9 percent and 0.73 percent, respectively.
