U.S. dollar ticks up


NEW YORK, Oct. 9 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar increased in late trading on Friday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, added 0.08 percent to 102.216 at 3 p.m. (1900 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro was down to 1.1202 dollars from 1.1209 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound climbed to 1.3241 dollars from 1.3225 U.S. dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 158.21 Japanese yen, higher than 157.86 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar lost to 0.8298 Swiss francs from 0.8316 Swiss francs, and it was up to 1.4266 Canadian dollars from 1.4224 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar increased to 9.9909 Swedish kronor from 9.9757 Swedish kronor.
