Azerbaijan posts 1.5-pct GDP growth in Jan.-Sept.


BAKU, Oct. 9 (Xinhua) -- Azerbaijan's gross domestic product (GDP) grew 1.5 percent year on year to 102 billion manats (about 60 billion U.S. dollars) in the first three quarters, the State Statistical Committee said Friday.

During the period, the non-oil and gas sector increased 2.6 percent year on year to 71.7 billion manats, while GDP in the oil and gas sector declined 1.2 percent to 30.3 billion manats.

Among other sectors, value added in information and communication services rose 11.1 percent, while transportation and storage services grew 10 percent. Non-oil and gas industrial output increased 5.4 percent.

Overall industrial output fell 0.8 percent, while agricultural production rose 1.1 percent in the first nine months of the year, according to official data.
