U.S. dollar ticks down


NEW YORK, Oct. 6 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar weakened in late trading on Tuesday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, fell 0.33 percent to 101.833 at 3 p.m. (1900 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro advanced to 1.1261 dollars from 1.1215 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound was up to 1.3277 dollars from 1.3219 dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 158.12 Japanese yen, higher than 158 Japanese yen in the previous session. The U.S. dollar increased to 0.8313 Swiss francs from 0.8307 Swiss francs, and it lost to 1.4209 Canadian dollars from 1.4256 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar was down to 9.9861 Swedish kronor from 10.0403 Swedish kronor.
