U.S. dollar ticks up


NEW YORK, Oct. 5 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar increased in late trading on Monday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, added 0.23 percent to 102.167 at 3 p.m. (1900 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro declined to 1.1215 dollars from 1.1252 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound decreased to 1.3219 dollars from 1.3239 dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 158.00 Japanese yen, higher than 157.80 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar added to 0.8307 Swiss francs from 0.8287 Swiss francs, and it was down to 1.4256 Canadian dollars from 1.4259 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar was up to 10.0403 Swedish kronor from 10.0366 Swedish kronor.
