ABUJA, Oct. 2 (Xinhua) -- At least 15 bodies were recently recovered from the scene of an attack by suspected Boko Haram terrorists in Nigeria's northeastern Borno State, multiple local sources, including police and the media, said Friday.
Nahum Daso, spokesman for the Borno State police, told the media that the remains, identified as those of local farmers, were recovered from farmlands around the Musune and Ala areas of Marte Local Government Area following the attack on Wednesday.
Daso said the whereabouts of other victims remained unknown.
The victims were peasant farmers and firewood gatherers, including young men, according to a report by the Punch Newspaper, a national daily, which cited local sources. The attackers allegedly ambushed the victims around the farmlands.
A burial was held for the recovered bodies on Thursday, a local source said, adding that at least 18 people had gone to the farm on the day of the attack.
