U.S. dollar ticks up


NEW YORK, Sept. 30 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar strengthened in late trading on Wednesday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, added 0.08 percent to 101.451 at 3 p.m. (1900 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro fell to 1.1332 dollars from 1.1341 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound advanced to 1.3262 dollars from 1.3229 dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 157.34 Japanese yen, higher than 157.22 Japanese yen in the previous session. The U.S. dollar was up to 0.8354 Swiss francs from 0.8336 Swiss francs, and it climbed to 1.4229 Canadian dollars from 1.4178 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar rose to 10.0103 Swedish kronor from 9.9892 Swedish kronor.
