HARARE, Sept. 24 (Xinhua) -- At least three people were killed and 19 others injured in the Zimbabwean capital of Harare when a commuter omnibus collided head-on with a truck on Wednesday evening, local police said Thursday.
The accident happened in the Willowvale industrial area, southwest of the city, at around 5:30 p.m. local time, according to a briefing issued by the police on the social media platform WhatsApp.
Police said the crash occurred when the passenger vehicle, locally known as a kombi, which was carrying 20 people, rammed into the truck. The victims' bodies were taken to the Sally Mugabe Hospital mortuary, while the injured were admitted to the same facility.
Authorities attribute most road traffic accidents in the country to reckless driving and unroadworthy vehicles.
