Nominal GDP totaled 28.1 billion lari (about 10.8 billion U.S. dollars) in the April-June period, up from 25.6 billion lari in the same quarter of 2025, according to Geostat. GDP per capita rose to 7,141.9 lari (2,748.4 dollars), from 6,904.3 lari a year earlier. The GDP deflator, a broad gauge of price changes across the economy, increased 3 percent, down from 4.2 percent in the second quarter of 2025.
Transportation and storage grew 19.8 percent year-on-year, while arts, entertainment and recreation expanded 17.4 percent, information and communication 16.6 percent, and human health and social work activities 15 percent. Wholesale and retail trade, including repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles, grew 8 percent, while manufacturing expanded 7.3 percent.
Wholesale and retail trade accounted for the largest share of GDP at 14.9 percent, followed by real estate activities at 9.1 percent and manufacturing at 8.9 percent. Construction and agriculture, forestry and fishing bucked the overall trend, contracting 4.8 percent and 3.5 percent, respectively, and were cited by Geostat as the largest negative contributors to GDP growth in the second quarter.
