URUMQI, Sept. 15 (Xinhua) -- The 2026 Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Digital Economy Forum, held on Tuesday in Urumqi, capital of northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, launched a list of key cooperation proposals to be pursued by SCO members.
The list covers cooperation proposals in such fields as digital infrastructure, agriculture, manufacturing, energy, transportation and logistics.
The forum also proposed the establishment of an SCO ministerial-level dialogue mechanism on the digital economy.
Liu Liehong, head of China's National Data Administration, said at the forum that over the past year, China had worked with all parties to advance China-SCO digital economy cooperation, with a series of tangible results benefiting the people.
Liu called for deepened cooperation in data governance, digital infrastructure connectivity, project implementation and digital talent training. The official also urged joint efforts to empower innovative development of artificial intelligence via data, promote industrial upgrading and facilitate trade.
According to Sohail Khan, SCO deputy secretary-general, digitalization has brought new opportunities to economic development, and helped expand economic and trade cooperation.
Promoting digital technology innovation and the application of its outcomes is in the interests of all parties, and helps achieve mutual benefit and bridge the digital divide, said the official.
Thematic sub-forums on digital connectivity, digital trade, digital and intelligent industry applications, and digital governance and capacity building were also held.
