BISHKEK, Sept. 14 (Xinhua) -- Kyrgyzstan's gross domestic product (GDP) reached 1.3968 trillion soms (about 16 billion U.S. dollars) in the first eight months of 2026, increasing by 11 percent compared to the same period last year, according to reports released Monday by the country's National Statistical Committee.
GDP growth was driven primarily by goods-producing sectors, the service sector, and net taxes on products. Goods-producing sectors recorded an 18.6 percent increase compared with the January-August period of 2025, while the service sector grew by 6.3 percent. Net taxes on products increased by 11 percent over the same period.
Industrial output increased by 8.8 percent during the reporting period, while construction output grew more than 1.6-fold. Wholesale and retail trade expanded by 4.4 percent, agriculture, forestry and fisheries by 6.4 percent, and the hotel and restaurant sector by 9.1 percent.
From January to August, consumer prices and tariffs across the country rose by 7.6 percent compared to December of the previous year, the data showed.
The volume of Kyrgyzstan's foreign and mutual trade in goods totaled 10 billion dollars in the first seven months of 2026, up 7.7 percent compared with the same period in 2025.
