Hangzhou crafts exhibition in Egypt showcases traditional Chinese heritage

CAIRO, Sept. 9 (Xinhua) -- An exhibition featuring traditional crafts from Hangzhou, east China's Zhejiang Province, is being held at a museum in Egypt, offering visitors an opportunity to explore the cultural affinities between the two ancient civilizations, the organizers of the exhibition said Wednesday.

The exhibition, titled "Hangzhou Traditional Craft Innovation Exhibition -- Egypt" and held at the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization (NMEC) in the Egyptian capital Cairo, marks the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Egypt.

The exhibition displays representative works of crafts including Chinese seal carving and paper-cutting, among others.

El-Tayeb Abbas, CEO of the NMEC, said hosting the exhibition was part of the museum's role in promoting dialogue and cultural exchange among civilizations, according to a statement by Egypt's Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities.

The three-day exhibition will run until Thursday.
