MANILA, Sept. 9 (Xinhua) -- Twenty-eight people had been rescued as of 9 p.m. local time after a passenger vessel carrying 124 people caught fire off Palawan in the Philippines on Wednesday, according to the local coast guard.
The vessel, which was carrying 117 passengers and 17 crew members, caught fire approximately 1.2 nautical miles off the coast of Coron Municipality. Search and rescue operations remain underway.
