Nvidia Q2 revenue jumps 106 pct to 96.22 bln USD

SAN FRANCISCO, Aug. 26 (Xinhua) -- U.S. chipmaker Nvidia on Wednesday reported revenue of 96.22 billion U.S. dollars for the second quarter of fiscal 2027, up 106 percent from a year earlier and 18 percent from the previous quarter.

For the quarter ended July 26, the company posted generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) net income of 59.69 billion dollars, up 126 percent year on year. GAAP diluted earnings per share rose 128 percent from a year earlier to 2.46 dollars. Its GAAP gross margin stood at 75 percent, compared with 72.4 percent a year earlier.

Nvidia's data center business continued to benefit from surging demand for artificial intelligence infrastructure. Data center revenue reached 89 billion dollars in the quarter, up 18 percent sequentially and 117 percent year on year.

The company said its next-generation Vera Rubin platform is ramping into full production, with systems running at partners including Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure and CoreWeave.

"AI has reached its inflection point. It's doing useful work. Its tokens are productive and profitable. Now, compute is revenue," said Nvidia founder and CEO Jensen Huang.

"Demand is accelerating. This time last year, one lab alone was driving the buildout; today, we have a golden age of new AI labs and startups, multiple frontier labs scaling in parallel, a thriving open-model ecosystem and physical AI coming online -- with strong momentum across the U.S. and around the world," he said. "The AI infrastructure buildout is at full steam. Vera Rubin, now in full production, was built to power exactly this moment."

For the third quarter of fiscal 2027, Nvidia expects revenue of 108 billion dollars, plus or minus 2 percent, and GAAP and non-GAAP gross margins of 74 percent, plus or minus 50 basis points.

Nvidia said it returned approximately 26 billion dollars to shareholders in the form of shares repurchased and cash dividends during the second quarter. It had about 99 billion dollars remaining under its share repurchase authorization at the end of the quarter.
