YEREVAN, Aug. 26 (Xinhua) -- Armenia's Anti-Corruption Committee has imposed a travel ban on former President Serzh Sargsyan over a criminal investigation involving large-scale money laundering, abuse of official power and large-scale bribery, local media reported Wednesday.
The committee said the charges against Sargsyan are part of a broader criminal case against Armenia's second president, Robert Kocharyan.
Kocharyan and his son were arrested Tuesday. The committee alleged that Kocharyan used his office to acquire state-owned properties on fabricated grounds at below-market prices, then hid the assets through affiliated companies before transferring or selling them.
Sargsyan served as Armenia's third president from 2008 to 2018.
