Multiple deaths after UK police car crash, police say


LONDON, Aug ⁠22 (Reuters) - Several ⁠people have died after ‌a collision near Middlesbrough in northeast England between ​a police car ⁠and a ⁠passenger car, the local ⁠police ‌force said on Saturday.

Cleveland ⁠Police said the incident ​took ‌place at around 3.39 ⁠a.m. (0239 ​GMT) on a main road near ⁠the South Bank ​area to the east of Middlesbrough.

"Sadly, the collision ⁠has resulted in multiple fatalities," a police spokesperson said. "We ​are working ⁠to identify the victims ​and contact ‌their families."
