N'DJAMENA, Aug. 20 (Xinhua) -- Six people were killed and ten others injured Thursday evening in intercommunal clashes in Alkhaba, a locality located about 17 km from Oum-Hadjer in Batha Est Department, central Chad, local media reported.

The violence was reportedly linked to a land dispute over the use of farmland, according to the media, which cited local authorities. A woman was among those killed.

Security forces were quickly deployed to the area after the clashes were reported to secure the site, prevent further escalation, and restore calm, the same sources said.

The identities of the victims have yet to be confirmed. An investigation has been launched by the competent authorities.
