NEW YORK, Aug. 13 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar weakened in late trading on Thursday.
The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, decreased by 0.05 percent to 99.964 at 3 p.m.
In late New York trading, the euro rose to 1.1529 U.S. dollars from 1.1521 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound decreased to 1.3485 dollars from 1.3488 dollars in the previous session.
The U.S. dollar bought 159.51 Japanese yen, higher than 159.49 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar increased to 0.8139 Swiss francs from 0.8137 Swiss francs, and it fell to 1.3936 Canadian dollars from 1.3947 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar declined to 9.5684 Swedish kronor from 9.5858 Swedish kronor.
