ABIDJAN, Aug. 11 (Xinhua) -- Violence linked to a land dispute in Kossandji village, located in the Alepe Department in southern Cote d'Ivoire, has left six people dead, including two children, 16 injured and several missing, according to local customary authorities cited by Ivorian media on Tuesday.
The violence took place on Aug. 4 and 5, and involved members of the indigenous Akye community and people from the Lobi and Mossi communities.
According to local media reports, the conflict stemmed from a land dispute before escalating into clashes between groups of young people from the different communities.
Besides loss of lives, the violence caused material damage in the area, including destruction and vandalism of homes and businesses.
