HAVANA, Aug. 6 (Xinhua) -- Two people were killed and another was injured after part of an abandoned structure collapsed Wednesday at No. 1 secondary school in the municipality of Remedios in Cuba's central Villa Clara province, local media reported Thursday.
The bodies of the two victims, who had not been identified, were recovered from the rubble at about 6:50 a.m. local time Thursday.
The injured person was rescued shortly after midnight and transported in stable condition to a local university hospital.
The rescue operation involved about 100 personnel, including specialized units from the Interior Ministry, firefighters, the Red Cross and the armed forces, with support from local authorities.
