TBILISI, Aug. 5 (Xinhua) -- Georgia's economy expanded 8.6 percent year on year in June, while average economic growth for the first half of 2026 stood at 7.9 percent, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said Wednesday.
Speaking at a government meeting, Kobakhidze noted that maintaining robust economic growth remains one of the government's top priorities.
He said manufacturing, transport, construction, information technology, and financial and insurance sectors were the main drivers of growth.
According to Kobakhidze, international financial institutions have upgraded their growth forecasts for Georgia in light of the country's strong economic performance. He attributed the results to the government's economic policies and anti-corruption measures.
He added that Georgia's foreign exchange reserves reached a record 7.1 billion U.S. dollars in July, up 52 percent from a year earlier, while the Georgian lari has strengthened in recent months.
