TASHKENT, Aug. 3 (Xinhua) -- The Central Bank of Uzbekistan announced that trading on the currency exchange will continue until 5 p.m. local time starting from Aug. 10, as part of ongoing efforts to develop the domestic foreign exchange market and expand banks' operational capacity.
The extension of the trading session will enable banks to manage foreign exchange liquidity more effectively throughout the day, execute client payments in a timely manner, and ensure the continuity of foreign currency settlements, according to the central bank.
Based on trading results, official exchange rates for 74 foreign currencies against the Uzbek currency will be published on the bank's website at 5:30 p.m. local time on each banking business day.
The official rates will continue to be used for accounting, statistical reporting, and calculating customs duties and other mandatory payments, the regulator added.
