BISHKEK, Aug. 3 (Xinhua) -- The National Bank of Kyrgyzstan has issued a gold collectible coin titled "35 Years of the Independent Kyrgyz Republic," as part of its "Historical Events" series, the bank's press service reported on Monday.
The main image on the obverse of the coin is reportedly a marching snow leopard, the national symbol of Kyrgyzstan, embodying the greatness, strength and natural wealth of the republic, against the backdrop of a fluttering national flag.
The reverse displays the number "35," with the national coat of arms positioned within the numeral. The background incorporates geometric patterns inspired by kurak, a traditional Kyrgyz patchwork craft that symbolizes the nation's rich cultural heritage and diversity.
The coin weighs 7.78 grams and has a face value of 100 soms. It has a mintage of 1,000 pieces. Its price is 99,460 soms (approximately 1,137 U.S. dollars). The coin is considered legal tender in Kyrgyzstan.
Kyrgyzstan declared its independence on Aug. 31, 1991. The Independence Day of the Kyrgyz Republic is the country's main national holiday, celebrated annually on Aug. 31.
