Kyrgyzstan receives about 290 mln USD in remittances in May


BISHKEK, July 31 (Xinhua) -- Remittances received by Kyrgyzstan in May totaled 287.9 million U.S. dollars, according to the National Bank of Kyrgyzstan.

The data published on Friday by the National Bank on its Telegram channel showed that the bulk of these remittances from the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) countries amounted to 252.4 million dollars. Transfers from non-CIS countries totaled 35.5 million dollars.

Russia remained the largest source of remittances, accounting for 240.6 million dollars, while the United States contributed 18.1 million dollars.

Meanwhile, remittances from Kyrgyzstan totaled 35.7 million dollars. Of this amount, 33.5 million dollars was transferred to CIS countries, while 2.2 million dollars was sent to non-CIS countries. Russia was the main destination for outbound transfers, receiving 31.8 million dollars.
