MOSCOW, July 28 (Xinhua) -- The Russian-made Tenet T7 crossover became the best-selling passenger car in Russia in the first half of 2026, analytical agency Autostat said Tuesday.
According to figures from the electronic vehicle passport database, a total of 36,490 new Tenet T7 crossovers fitted with automatic transmissions were sold across Russia over the first six months of the year, topping the ranking of the country's most popular automatic transmission passenger cars, Autostat said.
Tenet is a Russian automotive brand jointly developed by Russia's AGR Holding and China's Defetoo. Vehicles under the Tenet brand, built on Chery-derived platforms, are produced at AGR Holding's former Volkswagen full-cycle manufacturing facility in Russia's Kaluga region.
Second place in the ranking went to last year's leader Haval Jolion, with 32,138 units sold. The Tenet T4 took third position among the best-selling automatic transmission passenger cars, recording sales of 14,671 vehicles.
"Overall, 449,000 new passenger cars with automatic transmissions were sold in Russia between January and June 2026. This represents a 19 percent increase compared with the first half of last year," Autostat said, adding that automatic transmission vehicles account for 73.8 percent of Russia's total new-car market.
Additionally, the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade announced Tuesday that six new models will be added to the list of locally produced cars eligible for taxi procurement, including Jetour Dashing, Tenet T4L, Tenet T8, Tenet A8, Omoda C7 and Jeland J6.
