BERLIN, July 25 (Xinhua) -- Several people were injured after a vehicle drove into a crowd at a large Pride celebration in central Berlin on Saturday evening, police said.
Police said on social media platform X that the Christopher Street Day (CSD) event had been called off and the area near Tiergarten had been cordoned off as a major police operation was underway.
The injured were being treated by rescue personnel at the scene, while officers were conducting an intensive search for suspects, police said.
German newspaper Bild reported that the incident occurred at around 10 p.m. local time (2000 GMT). Citing witnesses, it said a white van drove into the crowd. The exact number of casualties and the cause of the incident were not immediately clear.
