MACAO, July 22 (Xinhua) -- The Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China in the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) hosted a reception on Wednesday for a delegation of cultural officials from Portuguese-speaking countries visiting Macao.

The delegation is scheduled to visit Guangzhou and the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin, both in south China's Guangdong Province, and Macao for exchanges.

According to the organizers, the itinerary includes visits to intangible cultural heritage projects and tourist destinations, allowing delegates to gain a deeper understanding of achievements in cultural preservation, inheritance, and innovation across the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

Bian Lixin, commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China in the Macao SAR, welcomed the delegates and said that exchanges between Chinese civilization and those of Portuguese-speaking countries date back centuries, producing vivid examples of mutual learning among civilizations.

She added that the commissioner's office will, as always, support Macao in developing itself into an important gateway for exchanges and mutual learning between Chinese and Western civilizations, creating more bridges and opportunities for dialogue between China and Portuguese-speaking countries.

The visit was jointly organized by the commissioner's office and the Macao SAR government.
