Jordan launches 40th Jerash Festival for Culture and Arts


AMMAN, July 22 (Xinhua) -- Jordan on Wednesday launched the 40th Jerash Festival for Culture and Arts, with Prime Minister Jaafar Hassan inaugurating the event on behalf of King Abdullah II.

Hassan lit the festival torch to officially open the annual event, held under the theme "A Legacy That Endures ... Generations That Unite."

Running from July 22 to Aug. 2, the festival features more than 220 cultural and artistic events.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Minister of Culture Mustafa Al-Rawashdeh said the festival serves as an important platform in the Jordanian, Arab, and international cultural circles, promoting intercultural dialogue through its programs.

The opening ceremony was attended by ministers, lawmakers, heads of Arab and foreign diplomatic missions, and other officials.

The festival lineup features performers from nearly 20 countries, including China, South Korea, Italy, Russia, Kazakhstan, Greece, and several Arab countries, as well as cultural forums, handicrafts exhibitions, and family-friendly activities.
