NEW YORK, July 20 (Xinhua) -- U.S. stocks ended lower on Monday.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell by 307.16 points, or 0.59 percent, to 51,839.26. The S&P 500 sank 14.41 points, or 0.19 percent, to 7,443.28. The Nasdaq Composite Index shed 12.171 points, or 0.05 percent, to 25,508.072.
Eight of the 11 primary S&P 500 sectors ended in red, with health and materials leading the laggards by going down 1.15 percent and 0.94 percent, respectively. Meanwhile, communication services and energy led the gainers by rising 0.74 percent and 0.55 percent, respectively.
