29th session of Arab industrial development assembly opens in Tripoli


TRIPOLI, July 16 (Xinhua) -- The 29th session of the General Assembly of the Arab Industrial Development, Standardization and Mining Organization opened Thursday in Tripoli, bringing together ministerial-level representatives from 21 Arab countries, according to a government statement.

Abdulhamid Dbeibah, prime minister of the internationally recognized Government of National Unity, said in his opening remarks that hosting the assembly in Tripoli reflects the importance of Arab cooperation in achieving development, stressing that economic integration has become a necessity amid rapid global economic changes.

He called for moving beyond exchanging views to building practical partnerships and launching joint Arab investments to support growth, create jobs and strengthen economic security.

The opening session also witnessed the official launch of the Arab Industrial Indicators Platform, a strategic initiative aimed at establishing a unified database of industrial indicators to support policymaking and decision-making across Arab countries, the statement said.

Participants discussed initiatives to accelerate digital transformation and expand the use of artificial intelligence in industry, standardization and mining to enhance productivity and competitiveness.
