Average monthly wage in Tajikistan up nearly 20 pct


DUSHANBE, July 13 (Xinhua) -- Tajikistan's average monthly wage rose 19.8 percent year on year to 3,194.45 somoni (about 345 U.S. dollars) as of June 1, Minister of Labor, Migration and Employment of Population Solekha Kholmakhmadzoda said Monday.

Speaking at a press conference, Kholmakhmadzoda said the average monthly wage in the education sector stood at 3,089.08 somoni, while employees in public administration, defense and social security earned an average of 2,779.49 somoni. The average monthly wage in the healthcare and social services sector was 2,293.2 somoni, she said.

According to the minister, regional data showed that the Sughd region recorded the country's highest average monthly wage of 3,071.87 somoni.
