4 injured in Southern California shooting after Mexico-England World Cup game

LOS ANGELES, July 6 (Xinhua) -- A gunman remained at large after four people were shot in Southern California following the Mexico-England World Cup soccer game Sunday night, local media reported Monday.

The shooting occurred at around 9:30 p.m. local time in East Los Angeles, an unincorporated community in Los Angeles County, according to multiple local media reports.

Fans of the Mexican national team had gathered at an intersection in the area after England knocked Mexico out of the World Cup with a 3-2 victory in the Round of 16 at the Azteca Stadium in Mexico City, KTLA television station reported.

An argument led to someone pulling out a gun and firing several rounds, striking two intended victims and two innocent bystanders, including a woman and a male juvenile, said the report, citing the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

As of Monday morning, no arrests had been made and authorities had not released any information about the suspect, the report said.
