DAR ES SALAAM, July 3 (Xinhua) -- Visiting Mozambican President Daniel Chapo and Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan on Friday called for stronger economic cooperation between the two countries through expanded trade and investment to accelerate development.
The two leaders made the remarks during the official opening of the 50th Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair in the port city of Dar es Salaam.
Mozambique and Tanzania share a unique history of solidarity and brotherhood rooted in Africa's liberation struggles, Chapo said, stressing that this historical foundation should now be transformed into tangible economic opportunities.
Economic cooperation between the two countries continues to grow but still holds significant untapped potential, he said.
Hassan noted that the trade fair has served as a key platform for business and investment promotion for five decades, fostering both domestic and international cooperation while continuing to connect producers, buyers and investors from Africa and beyond for Tanzania's economic growth.
The Tanzanian president also reaffirmed the government's commitment to improving the business environment through infrastructure development, digital transformation and reduced trade barriers to attract more investment.
