WARSAW, July 1 (Xinhua) -- Poland's population stood at about 38.8 million at the end of 2025, about 40,000 more than a year earlier, according to experimental data released by the country's Central Statistical Office (GUS) on Wednesday.
The data showed that about 2.3 million foreign nationals were staying in Poland, up by nearly 215,000 from a year earlier, the Polish Press Agency reported.
Ukrainian citizens accounted for 73 percent of all foreigners, while foreign nationals made up nearly 6 percent of the country's population.
More than 8 million people, accounting for over 20 percent of Poland's population, were living in the country's provincial capital cities, including more than 970,000 foreign nationals.
Warsaw was the largest city with a population of over 2 million, followed by Krakow with nearly 900,000 residents, while Gorzow Wielkopolski was the smallest provincial capital, with a population of just over 130,000.
According to GUS, the estimates are derived from administrative records identifying people who remained active in government databases, rather than from official population statistics based on births, deaths and migration.
