U.S. stocks close higher


NEW YORK, June 30 (Xinhua) -- U.S. stocks ended higher on Tuesday.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 136.46 points, or 0.26 percent, to 52,319.2. The S&P 500 added 58.93 points, or 0.79 percent, to 7,499.36. The Nasdaq Composite Index increased by 393.58 points, or 1.52 percent, to 26,213.72.

Six of the 11 primary S&P 500 sectors ended in the red, with real estate and utilities leading the laggards by going down 2.18 percent and 1.49 percent, respectively. Meanwhile, technology and industrials led the gainers by rising 2.55 percent and 1.35 percent, respectively.
