LOS ANGELES, June 20 (Xinhua) -- One person was killed and at least 32 others were injured Saturday in a traffic collision involving a semitruck in the city of Irwindale, the U.S. state of California, authorities said.
The crash was reported shortly before 9 a.m. local time on the 210 freeway, a major east-west freeway in Southern California, according to the California Highway Patrol.
"Units arrived to find a big-rig that crossed over the center divide on the 210 and collided with multiple vehicles," the Los Angeles County Fire Department said in a post on X.
A woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Two patients in critical condition were transported to local hospitals, along with eight patients who sustained minor injuries. An additional 22 patients with minor injuries declined medical transport, according to the department.
Traffic on the freeway was severely impacted following the crash. The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
