NEW YORK, June 18 (Xinhua) -- U.S. stocks ended higher on Thursday.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 72.15 points, or 0.14 percent, to 51,564.70. The S&P 500 added 80.48 points, or 1.08 percent, to 7,500.58. The Nasdaq Composite Index increased by 496.28 points, or 1.91 percent, to 26,517.93.
Six of the 11 primary S&P 500 sectors ended in the red, with energy and financials leading the laggards by losing 1.73 percent and 0.91 percent, respectively. Meanwhile, technology and consumer discretionary led the gainers by adding 2.68 percent and 1.76 percent, respectively.
