DAR ES SALAAM, June 10 (Xinhua) -- The Tanzanian government on Wednesday outlined a 62.3 trillion Tanzanian shillings (about 24 billion U.S. dollars) budget framework for the 2026/2027 fiscal year, marking the first year of implementing the country's Development Vision 2050 and a new five-year development plan.
Finance Minister Khamis Omar announced the budget priorities ahead of Thursday's presentation in parliament, saying that a significant portion of the budget will fund strategic projects aimed at accelerating economic growth.
Key investments will focus on the construction of the standard gauge railway, expansion of road networks, improvement of water services, energy development, and human capital advancement, Omar told a news conference held in the capital city of Dodoma.
Omar said the government aims to collect 46.8 trillion shillings in domestic revenue to finance much of the budget.
The fiscal framework is designed to boost economic and social development, create jobs, attract investment, and improve livelihoods, according to the minister.
