U.S. stocks close mixed


NEW YORK, June 9 (Xinhua) -- U.S. stocks ended mixed on Tuesday.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 86.1 points, or 0.17 percent, to 50,872.11. The S&P 500 sank 19.08 points, or 0.26 percent, to 7,386.65. The Nasdaq Composite Index shed 250.84 points, or 0.97 percent, to 25,678.82.

Nine of the 11 primary S&P 500 sectors ended in green, with real estate and materials leading the gainers by rising 2.13 percent and 1.72 percent, respectively. Meanwhile, technology and energy led the laggards by dropping 1.82 percent and 1.6 percent, respectively.
