U.S. stocks close mixed


NEW YORK, June 8 (Xinhua) -- U.S. stocks ended mixed on Monday.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell by 80.77 points, or 0.16 percent, to 50,786.01. The S&P 500 added 21.99 points, or 0.30 percent, to 7,405.73. The Nasdaq Composite Index increased by 220.231 points, or 0.86 percent, to 25,929.663.

Eight of the 11 primary S&P 500 sectors ended in red, with utilities and real estate leading the laggards by losing 1.92 percent and 1.63 percent, respectively. Meanwhile, technology and energy led the gainers by adding 1.47 percent and 1.14 percent, respectively.
