U.S. stocks close higher


NEW YORK, May 27 (Xinhua) -- U.S. stocks ended higher on Wednesday.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.36 percent to 50,644.28. The S&P 500 added 0.02 percent to 7,520.36. The Nasdaq Composite Index increased 0.07 percent to 26,674.74.

Six of the 11 primary S&P 500 sectors ended in red, with energy and financials leading the laggards by losing 1.52 percent and 0.82 percent, respectively. Meanwhile, consumer discretionary and consumer staples led the gainers by adding 1.89 percent and 0.97 percent, respectively.
