U.S. stocks close mixed


NEW YORK, May 26 (Xinhua) -- U.S. stocks ended mixed on Tuesday.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell by 118.02 points, or 0.23 percent, to 50,461.68. The S&P 500 added 45.65 points, or 0.61 percent, to 7,519.12. The Nasdaq Composite Index increased by 312.21 points, or 1.19 percent, to 26,656.18.

Six of the 11 primary S&P 500 sectors ended in the green, with technology and industrials leading the gainers by rising 1.69 percent and 1.48 percent, respectively. Meanwhile, energy and consumer staples led the laggards by dropping 2.8 percent and 1.74 percent, respectively.
