Kyrgyzstan's road construction accelerates this year

BISHKEK, May 23 (Xinhua) -- Road construction in Kyrgyzstan has picked up pace this year rapidly, with a total of 243.1 kilometers of roads paved across the country as of May 20, according to the country's Ministry of Transport and Communications.

That is more than four times of the 56.6 kilometers of roads being completed during the same period last year.

Road construction and repair work are proceeding according to the approved schedule. The supply of necessary equipment and construction materials is also ongoing, said the ministry.

With major financing from the state budget and international partners, Kyrgyzstan is experiencing an aggressive, record-breaking phase of road infrastructure development.
