NEW YORK, May 22 (Xinhua) -- U.S. stocks ended higher on Friday.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 294.04 points, or 0.58 percent, to 50,579.7. The S&P 500 added 27.75 points, or 0.37 percent, to 7,473.47. The Nasdaq Composite Index increased by 50.87 points, or 0.19 percent, to 26,343.97.
Nine of the 11 primary S&P 500 sectors ended in the green, with health and utilities leading the gainers by rising 1.19 percent and 0.8 percent, respectively. Meanwhile, communication services and consumer staples led the laggards by dropping 0.68 percent and 0.09 percent, respectively.
