Over 120 injured in Chad oil depot fire: media

YAOUNDE, May 13 (Xinhua) -- More than 120 people were injured in a major fire that broke out on Tuesday night at a large fuel depot in Abeche, the capital of Chad's eastern Ouaddai Province, local media reported on Wednesday.

According to a preliminary toll released by local authorities, victims received immediate treatment at the city's health facilities. While many of the injured remain under intensive medical observation, no fatalities have been reported so far.

Deputy Prime Minister Limane Mahamat, accompanied by several government members, arrived in Abeche on Wednesday and visited the victims in local hospitals to express sympathy and support.

Authorities have yet to announce a final official casualty toll, but said that an official investigation has been launched to determine the exact cause of the blaze.
