LOS ANGELES, May 10 (Xinhua) -- "The Devil Wears Prada 2," from 20th Century Studios, stayed atop the North American box office chart with an estimated three-day cume of 43 million U.S. dollars in its second weekend, data from measurement firm Comscore showed on Sunday.
After 10 days in theaters, the comedy drama has grossed 144.8 million dollars in North America, bringing its worldwide total to 433.2 million dollars.
The sequel to the 2006 film "The Devil Wears Prada" reunites the original main cast with director David Frankel. Almost 20 years after their iconic performances, Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci return to the fashionable streets of New York City and the sleek offices of Runway magazine in the film.
Warner Bros.'s martial arts fantasy film "Mortal Kombat II" opened in second place with 40 million dollars this weekend. The film based on a fighting arcade game also earned 23 million dollars internationally for a global weekend debut of 63 million dollars.
Rounding out the top three, Lionsgate's Michael Jackson biopic "Michael" took in 36.5 million dollars in its third weekend for a North American cume of 240.49 million dollars.
