Russia's new car sales rise 11 pct in first four months of 2026

MOSCOW, May 5 (Xinhua) -- Sales of new passenger cars in Russia increased by 11 percent year on year in the first four months of 2026 to 384,700 units, the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade said Tuesday.

The ministry cited data from PPC, an analytical company within the "Electronic Passport" corporate group, which relies on its electronic vehicle passporting system to track transactions.

The broader automotive market showed mixed results during the period. While passenger car sales climbed, light commercial vehicles fell by 22 percent to 26,400 units over the same timeframe.

New truck sales declined 17 percent in the first four months to 16,700 units. Bus sales decreased 11 percent compared to the same period in 2025, totaling 3,200 units.
