U.S. dollar ticks up


NEW YORK, April 23 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar increased in late trading on Thursday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, gained 0.18 percent to 98.774 at 3:00 p.m. (1900 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro decreased to 1.1685 dollars from 1.1711 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound dropped to 1.3468 dollars from 1.3510 dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 159.74 Japanese yen, higher than 159.45 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar increased to 0.7862 Swiss francs from 0.7842 Swiss francs, and it advanced to 1.3701 Canadian dollars from 1.3666 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar climbed to 9.2576 Swedish kronor from 9.2063 Swedish kronor.
