US sanctions Nicaragua vice minister over alleged human rights abuses


April ⁠18 (Reuters) - U.S. ⁠Secretary of State ‌Marco Rubio said on Saturday ​that the ⁠United States ⁠is imposing visa ⁠sanctions ‌on Nicaragua's ⁠vice-minister of the ​interior, ‌Luis Roberto Cañas ⁠Novoa, ​for alleged involvement ⁠in human rights ​violations.

The sanctions render Cañas Novoa ⁠ineligible for entry into the United ​States.
