Fresh Israeli strikes kill 16 in southern Lebanon

ISTANBUL: At least 16 people were killed and several others injured on Wednesday (April 15) in Israeli airstrikes targeting multiple areas in southern Lebanon, Anadolu Ajansi reported, citing Lebanese media.

Civil Defence teams and the Islamic Risala Scout Association recovered four bodies and rescued three wounded from the rubble after an airstrike hit the Al-Khodra complex in the Qadmous area, the state-run National News Agency said.

In the town of Ansariyeh, five people were killed in a dawn strike, the agency reported.

Three more people were injured in an Israeli airstrike targeting the Abbasiya area of Tyre district, it added.

In the town of Jbaa of Nabatieh district, an Israeli airstrike on a home killed a man, his wife, and their two children, the same source said.

Two paramedics were also killed in an Israeli strike targeting a rescue team from the Islamic Health Authority, Nabatieh Ambulance, and Islamic Risala Scouts in Maydafoun, NNA said.

A Syrian was killed and another injured in a drone strike on the town of Harouf of Nabatieh.

Another Israeli attack struck a vehicle in the Saadiyat area in Mount Lebanon, the news agency said.

The Israeli army has expanded air and ground attacks across Lebanon since a cross-border attack by Hezbollah on March 2.

Wednesday’s strikes came after Israel and Lebanon held their first direct diplomatic talks in decades on Tuesday (April 14) in Washington.

According to Lebanese health authorities, at least 2,124 people have been killed and nearly 7,000 injured in Israeli attacks since March 2.
